Date: 13-Nov-2009 From: Brian Migliazza <brian_migliazzasil.org> Subject: Obituary: Helen Madrid E-mail this message to a friend Angelina Helen Madrid - Philippine linguist (1943 - 2009) passed away on November 8th, 2009 in Manila, after a long battle with cancer. She helped develop a generation of field linguists in the Philippines. She grew up in rural northern Philippines and went on to get a BS in Mathematics from Adamson University (metro Manila) and by 1985she had completed graduate work in linguistics at the University of Texas at Arlington. She taught for many years in the linguistic training program at Philippine Normal University and was instrumental in language development work among the the Ifugao peoples.
