Meeting Description:

The 2nd International Conference on Translation: Translation in the New
Millennium welcomes papers addressing general theoretical and practical issues
of translation in the new millennium. It also solicits papers which deal with
the more intricate aspects of translation.

4. Translation: A Model for Global Communication
5. Translation in the Digital Age
6. New Perspectives in Teaching Translation
7. Interpretation
8. Translation Projects and Institutes in the UAE
9. Translating Islam
10. Translation and Media

Proposal Submission Guidelines:

1. Proposals should be written in English and emailed to the above contact address.
2. A presenter may submit only one proposal.
3. All submissions will be subject to a refereeing process. They will be
reviewed according to their relevance to the conference theme, clarity of
presentation, novelty, and theoretical/ practical value.
4. Presenters are requested to write a brief Bio.
5. Abstracts are to be written in English and must not exceed 500 words.
6. Selected papers will be published in a special issue of the University of
Sharjah Journal.

Conference Fees and Payment:
The cost of conference registration is $100 for presenters. Cash payment can be
made upon arrival. The registration fee covers access to all sessions, 2
lunches, coffee breaks and conference material. In addition, a number of
cultural and educational activities are organized such as a dinner, a half-day
tour to Sharjah's museums and the Blue Souq. Special arrangements will be made
with local hotels for a limited number of rooms at a special conference rate.

Notification of acceptance: January 15, 2010
