Essay Competition - Conference - Workshops - Research Grant

Please find below information on the Twelfth Berlin Roundtables on
Transnationality on the topic "Cultural Pluralism Revisited: Religious and
Linguistic Freedoms". We kindly ask you to circulate this information
among potential candidates (students, PhD candidates and post-docs up to a

Essay Competition - Irmgard Coninx Research Grant 2010 - Workshop and
Conference in Berlin, 7 - 11 April 2010
International Essay Competition and Workshop organized by the Irmgard
Coninx Foundation, the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB), and
Humboldt-University Berlin.
Workshop Participation in Berlin:
Up to 40 successful applicants to the essay competition will be invited to
discuss their research with prominent scholars at two of Europe's leading
research institutions.
The workshops will take place at the Social Science Research Center
Berlin, 7 - 11 April 2010. Workshops will be chaired by José Casanova
(Georgetown University) and Fernand de Varennes (Murdoch University).
Deadline for essay submission: January 15th, 2010
Irmgard Coninx Research Grant:
An international jury will award two three-month fellowships to be used
for research at the WZB, the Humboldt-University Berlin and the State
Library Berlin. The grant includes a monthly stipend of EUR 1,000 plus
accommodation and its winners will be invited to join a follow-up workshop
in Berlin in 2010/2011.
For the finalists of the essay competition, the Irmgard Coninx Foundation
will cover travel to and accommodation in Berlin.
