Description:
The Department of Linguistics and Communication Disorders of Queens College of the City University of New York (CUNY) seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the Fall of 2010. Salary range: $42,873 - $74,133, commensurate with qualifications and achievement; excellent benefits. The successful candidate must be able to teach courses in general linguistics (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax), sociolinguistics, second language acquisition, and bilingualism. The person who fills this position should be prepared to teach in bachelor's and master's programs in linguistics, TESOL, and applied linguistics with applications to urban educational settings. Candidates must have earned a doctorate by September 1, 2010 in linguistics, applied linguistics, or a related field and must evidence promise of excellence in teaching and scholarship. A commitment to research is essential. The ability to teach literacy and language assessment is desirable. Bilingual candidates are preferred.
