ETS currently has an opening for a Sr. Software Systems Engineer to serve in a developer role for our Natural Language Processing (NLP) Technologies Group. You will perform in a developer role, writing technical specifications/use cases/test plans, coding, mentoring other developers, conducting internal testing efforts, and working closely with research and development staff in the development of new and existing NLP capabilities and products. You will work as part of a development team in the design of highly complex NLP-related software systems. You will serve as a technical expert, addressing problems related to NLP technologies, systems integration, compatibility and multiple platforms. Responsibilities include: *Designing, customizing, coding, developing and testing complex NLP software applications in a multi-tier software systems environment *Preparing all relevant documentation conforming to the SR&T SDLC for design, development and testing by internal or external entities *Providing guidance to peers and lower level technical staff *Creating detailed integration test plans *Serving as key development resource for developing and supporting pilot NLP-related projects *Supporting production NLP applications Requirements: *Bachelor's degree in computer science, computational linguistics or a related field; Master's degree would be an asset *6-8 years of diverse analysis, programming and testing experience in the development of advanced NLP capabilities and applications *Highly skilled in Java, Perl and Python programming and SQL databases *Familiar with UNIX tools and scripting languages *Excellent understanding of the levels of linguistic analysis (syntax, semantics, morphology, phonology) and typical computational approaches applied at each level in corpus-based research *Strong grasp of computational algorithms and elementary statistics *Experience with machine learning toolkits such as Weka, Mallet, libsvm, SVMLite and See5 *Experience with machine learning and natural language processing resources such as WordNet, parsers, taggers and information retrieval systems ETS offers competitive salaries, an excellent benefits package and an ideal environment for professional growth.
