We are pleased to announce the following keynote speakers: Professor Keith Banting, Research Chair in Public Policy, Queens University, Kingston Professor Chelva Kanaganayakam, Professor of English and Director, Centre for South Asian Studies at the University of Toronto Professor Lise Gauvin, Writer, Professor of Literature, Université de Montréal Thibault Martin, Responsable des programmes de deuxième cycle en développement régional, Département de travail social et des sciences sociales, Université du Québec en Outaouais Interdisciplinary papers are especially welcome. Presentations will be 20 minutes with an additional 10 minutes for questions and discussion. The conference registration form, along with abstracts of papers (maximum 250 words) and a one-paragraph CV for those planning to deliver papers, should be submitted by e-mail to the organizers by 5 April 2009. Selected papers from the conference will be published in a separate volume. This time the conference will be hosted by the Institute for Information in Social Sciences in conjuction with the University of Moscow and the University of St. Petersburg. As before, the conference will focus on the remarkable far-reaching parallelism in syntactic and semantic structures in the languages of Far East, Southeast Asia and West Africa which cannot be explained either by genealogial affinity or aerial factors.
