The (Linguist, Clerk) performs routine duties in an office environment, conducting interviews, and screening potential applicants, processing security and access permissions for US military installations. Functions include interview, screening and badging of Other Country Nationals (OCN), Host Country and Local National (LN) workers, guests and others requiring installation access. Provide linguistic operational support during reception, interviews, meetings and conferences. Interpret and translate written and spoken communications. Transcribe and analyze verbal and written communications. Analyze foreign documents for authenticity and provide input to reports. This is a customer service position that requires a courteous attitude and high degree of professionalism, dealing with a variety of nationalities and cultures. Work is performed in a fast paced environment with service provided to an international customer base. Major Job Activities: Duties may include, but are not limited to the following. Specific Tasks: 1. Provide linguist support to the badging and screening office 2. Serve as the receptionist for personnel entering the office 3. Perform general administrative support 4. Be present during interviews and serve as translator 5. Verify foreign documents for authenticity 6. Translate both written and spoken word. 7. Interview and screen potential applicants and visitors General Tasks: 1. Perform word processes and other clerical functions 2. Submits reports 3. Other duties as assigned Material & Equipment Directly Used: General office equipment, Computer and peripheral devices. Working Environment/Physical Activities: Lifting: Packages and containers: from 25-to-40 lbs. Positions: Continuous sitting up to 50% Continuous standing up to 50% Pushing/Pulling: Packages and containers: from 25-to-40 lbs. Environmental: Customer contact: frequent Extended workday: frequent Confined work area Field assignment: as courier or customer contact Dexterity: Constant finger motion: typing Repetitive wrist motion: typing Freedom to Act: Reports to the Security Investigator Lead Experience - External: Required Skills and Experience: Candidates must be computer literate and capable of operating general office equipment a.) Fluent in both Pashto and Dari b.) Previous experience working with the US government or military is desirable. Minimum Qualifications: Experience: Excellent command of Pashto and Dari languages Passport: Must possess a current, valid US Passport Drug Free: Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screen Criminal Background: Must pass a federal background check with no derogatory information Health: Applicants must be in good physical health, able to pass a medical evaluation.
