Editor for this issue: Bethany Townsend <bethanylinguistlist.org>

The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity, nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international employment page at http://linguistlist.org/jobs/jobnet.html. This page has been set up so that people can report on the employment standards of various countries.

Description:

ICREA Senior: 2009 Call for Permanent Senior Researcher Posts. Expression
of interest by the Dept of Translation and Language Sciences at Universitat
Pompeu Fabra.

The Department of Translation and Language Sciences at Universitat Pompeu
Fabra (Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain) is interested in hosting a senior
researcher funded through the 'ICREA Senior' program. The target research
areas are Interpreting and Translation Studies (audiovisual translation,
localisation, specialised translation, etc). ICREA (Catalan Institution for
Research and Advanced Studies) is a foundation jointly promoted by the
Department of Innovation, Universities and Enterprise of the Catalan
Government, and the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRI).
In this year's call ICREA has announced 25 posts (in all fields of
research) for strong candidates with excellent leadership capabilities and
an outstanding research record. ICREA researchers, although employed
directly by ICREA, work in a host university or research center in
Catalonia. Candidates apply directly to ICREA. The specific terms for the
ICREA contracts as well as the conditions and guidelines for application
are available at the ICREA website listed below.

Any application for 'ICREA Senior' must include an expression of interest
from a university department or research center. Candidates who are
interested in the expression of interest from the Department of Translation
and Language Sciences at UPF must contact Dr. Anna Espunya at the email
address listed below, attaching a CV and a description of their line of
work. The Department will get back to the eligible candidate by April 6, so
that the application can be completed before April 14, which is the UPF
deadline for this ICREA call. For more information on the Department of
Translation and Language Sciences see the website listed above.
