Meeting Description:
The European Network for Intercultural Education Activities (ENIEDA) in
cooperation with The Centre for Research and Innovation in Linguistic Education
(CIEL) of the University of Alba Iulia, Romania, and The Institute of Foreign
Languages (IFL) of the University of Montenegro are organising the Second
International Conference on Linguistic and Intercultural Education (CLIE2)
entitled 'Linguistic and Cultural Diversity within European Learning
Communities: Cross-cultural and Trans-national Perspectives'. The special focus
theme proposed for the conference is universal vs. culture specific in the
discourse of academic and professional rhetoric. The conference is taking place
in Herceg Novi, Montenegro, from 10-12 June 2010.
Following the success of the 1st International Conference on Linguistic and
Intercultural Education (CLIE1), hosted by the University of Alba Iulia (27-29
November 2008), and the follow-up Exploratory Workshop (21-23 May 2009), which
saw the establishment of the European Network for Intercultural Education
Activities (ENIEDA), we are happy to announce that the CLIE2 conference intends
to capitalise on the achievements and the collaborative spirit created during
the two events and to explore further key questions on their agenda.
CLIE2, therefore, will remain open to linguistic and cross-cultural
education-related topics broadly defined, looking more closely into the current
dynamics in Europe between old and new trends, local and global tendencies,
progressive and conservative views, stabilisation and destabilisation patterns,
national and European identities. Even though our aim is to focus primarily on
European learning communities and their culture specific identities, we would
welcome participants representing other geographical and geo-political regions
and their contributions as well.

CLIE2 is open to linguistic and cross-cultural education-related topics broadly
defined, looking more closely into the current dynamics in Europe between old
and new trends, local and global tendencies, progressive and conservative views,
stabilisation and destabilisation patterns, national and European identities.
Even though our aim is to focus primarily on European learning communities and
their culture specific identities, we would welcome participants representing
other geographical and geo-political regions and their contributions as well.

The main aim of the conference is to promote the values of multilingualism and
intercultural cooperation in a rapidly changing and communication-driven society
with cross-border and culture-convergent encounters. Our task is to re-examine
and re-define key questions on our existing agenda, as well as to identify new
collaborative and networking opportunities, both of which will inform future
directions of research and development.
Languages of the conference are English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and
Russian.
We invite proposals for individual papers, panels/colloquia, workshops and
posters on the topics suggested, but not strictly limited to the list above.
They should be written in the language of the presentation and be up to 300
words long. Individual papers are allotted 30 minutes (including discussion
time), while panels/colloquia and workshops should last no longer than 90
minutes per session. Further guidelines and instructions how to submit and

it includes the conference pack, coffee break refreshments and the welcome
drinks reception.
