Specifically, we aim to consider how the findings of generative second language acquisition research might apply to language teaching. Invited Speaker: Roumyana Slabakova Call for Papers Proposals are invited for papers and posters on the following questions, or other topics relevant to the aims of the workshop: - How can generative L2 acquisition research inform language classroom practice? - How can specific empirical findings from generative L2 acquisition be applied to language teaching? - What do language teachers need from theoretical L2 acquisition research? - What effects do different types of input have on underlying L2 competence? - How can investigators measure the effects of teaching on underlying L2 competence? All abstracts for papers and posters should be limited to one page (A4 size), using single-spaced Times New Roman font, or similar. An additional page may be used for references. Paper presentations will be 20 minutes long, followed by a 10-minute discussion period. Posters are intended for one-on-one discussion of research. Proposals for posters on work in progress are encouraged. Abstracts (one anonymous and one with author name(s)) should be sent to: sla-workshop events.york.ac.uk

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as
such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered
501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These
donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax return
(U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact
your financial advisor.
Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match
any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your
contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the
EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple
administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without
costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if your company
operates such a program.
Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
