Scope:

The special focus of this three-day conference is on issues of face-enhancing,
face maintaining and face-aggravating language communication in
computer-mediated communication of all types.

''The Fifth International Symposium on Politeness'' (30 June - 2 July 2010),

The special theme for the Basel conference is "Politeness and Impoliteness, On-
and Offline" and thus focuses on language usage in computer-mediated
communication (CMC).

Presenters of papers and posters should register at the latest by 31 May 2010.

The conference fees include coffee breaks, lunch on three days and the
conference material:

The conference dinner is optional and costs 95 Swiss francs. You can register
for it online as well. It will be held in a charming old guild hall in the heart
of medieval Basel on the first night of the conference (Wednesday 30 June, 2010).
