Conference will be held at: CSIR International Convention Centre Pretoria Sub Themes include: Language in Education Multilingualism Improving mother tongue instruction for learning, how far are we? Second language teaching and learning Foreign language teaching and learning Language for specific purposes The career of Language Practitioner Language Awareness Indigenous languages, a relevant resource in education? Language rights National versus international languages in teaching and learning Language and Technology Language Attitudes Language Innovation Language, Identity and Culture Getting students to write for academic success We welcome paper presentations (approx. 20 minutes and 10 minutes of discussions) and poster presentations (5 minutes), focusing on Languages in Africa. The language of presentation will be English. Presenters are to submit Topics/Abstracts (500 words max.) in MS Word format to reach the Department of Applied Languages by 30th April 2010. Abstracts should be sent by e-mail to Ms Lilian Gangla - GanglaLA tut.ac.za, Receipt of abstracts will be acknowledged, and acceptance of abstracts will be done by 10th May 2010. Abstracts will be distributed at the Symposium. Kindly put your contact details and your abstract on two separate pages. PC PowerPoint presentation facilities will be available. As a backup, presenters will be asked to E-mail their slide show presentations ahead of time. Please note: Confirm attendance by 31st May 2010.
