The Department of Applied Language Studies and Linguistics The Faculty of Arts Vacancy Number: 11900 Applications are invited for the position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Applied Language Studies. This is a permanent appointment, commencing 1 February 2011. The successful applicant will be expected to make a significant contribution to the Department's teaching, research and administration and also to participate in service activities for the Faculty of Arts and University. The successful applicant will also be expected to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Language Teaching and Learning, to carry out research and publish research results, and to supervise postgraduate research at the masters and doctoral levels. The desired areas of specialization are in second language acquisition and language teaching methodology. Expertise in one or more of the following areas would also be an advantage: - Statistical analysis - Use of technology in language teaching - Bilingual education. Applicants should have a PhD in Second Language Acquisition, Applied Linguistics, TESOL or a closely related field, as well as experience of teaching and research supervision at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. An established record of research and publications in the field is also required. Applications close 09 May 2010.
