ANNOUNCEMENT OF A FULL-TIME TEMPORARY FACULTY POSITION IN ENGLISH
The English Department in the Center for Language Studies, Otaru University
of Commerce, has obtained a grant to develop e-Learning materials. As part
of this project we are hiring a research assistant. Applicants are invited
to apply for a full-time (temporary) faculty position. Prospective
applicants should refer to the following:
Position:
Full-time faculty position research assistant for the English Department in
the Center for Language Studies.
Job Description:
1. Development, editing, recording and proofreading of e-Learning contents.
2. Research, development, operation and improvement of e-Learning system.
3. Operation and improvement of e-Learning courses.
Qualifications:
1. Master's degree or equivalent qualifications in an area of study
relevant to the position.
2. Sufficient command of Japanese to pursue administration duties such as
participating in faculty meetings.
3. Native or near-native proficiency in English
4. Experience in computer assisted language learning, corpus linguistics
or e-Learning would be advantageous.
5. In addition, we are especially looking for applicants who have
experience in design of English proficiency tests such as TOEIC or TOEFL.
Period of Appointment:
The successful applicant will be required to take up duties on July 1,
2010. The appointment will expire on March 31, 2013 and applicant will not
be reappointed.
Salary:
The successful candidate will be paid in line with the pay scale of Otaru
University of Commerce

English CV.
2. Undergraduate and graduate school certificates and transcripts.
3. A list of papers and publications.
4. Three copies each of the applicant's three most important publications.
5. An essay of not longer than three pages explaining the applicant's
approach to English education at the university level in Japan.
