Applications are invited for a one-year full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning August 2010. Swarthmore College is a small, selective liberal arts college located near Philadelphia. The Linguistics Department offers majors and minors in Linguistics at the undergraduate level. Area of specialization is open, but applicants should be able to teach at least several of the following: Introduction to Linguistics, Morphology, Phonetics & Phonology, Semantics, Syntax. The teaching load for the visiting position is five courses. Appointment as a visiting assistant professor requires the Ph.D., and the successful candidate must show evidence of an active research program and experience in teaching. Candidates must submit applications via e-mail only to linguistics swarthmore.edu Do not send paper applications. Do not send letters of reference or writing samples at this time. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis until an appointment is made.
