Job Description EF Education First is accepting applications for a professional linguist and English language teaching specialist to be part of shaping the future of language learning. As Director of Academic Development, Middle East, you will have a creative and challenging leadership role in the design and implementation of language learning programs across the region. You will oversee the instructional design process, create specialized curricula, use new media and innovative approaches for teacher training and development, contribute to the development of educational publications and lead the implementation of EF programs. Using your fluent Arabic language skills, you will also represent EF in the region in high level strategy discussions and other external representation activities. You will jointly report to the head of academic research and development and to the relevant EF product president and serve as an academic liaison internally and externally. The starting location for the position will be Dubai, UAE. Requirements Applicants must hold a PhD or EdD in Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, Foreign Language Education, or related field. They must have a proven record of successful English language teaching for a wide range of ages and interests and experience in product development for the English language teaching (ELT) industry. Candidates must also be able to demonstrate native or near native spoken and written Arabic fluency and enthusiasm for working in educational contexts throughout the Arabic-speaking world. In addition, they should have wide international work and travel experience, familiarity with the international education market, a demonstrated public speaking record, and a passion for the opportunities that new media and technology provide for effective learning, teaching, and assessment. Candidates who will be in possession of the doctorate within the next 6 months will be considered.
