Responsibilities include assisting in the implementation and development of the existing publishing plans (consisting of books, journals, and electronic products) and the acquisition of new manuscripts and other products for publication. The Acquisitions Editor will report to the Editorial Director in Berlin and will be supported by an Editorial Coordinator within the editorial office in North America. The successful applicant must be thoroughly familiar with the field of Linguistics (particularly Applied Linguistics) and with institutions where Linguistics is taught and researched. He/she will have developed book and journal programs at an academic publisher, or will have acquired similar qualifications elsewhere. Extensive travel to academic institutions and conferences will be required in order to recruit authors and editors as well as to maintain existing contacts. In addition, applicants should have outstanding project management skills, feel comfortable in complex work contexts, and be capable of efficiently supervising the Editorial Coordinator.
