Description:
'Mining a Year of Speech' - Research Associate A vacancy exists for a Research Associate with experience in speech recognition technology, for a fixed period from 12th April 2010 to 31st March 2011. The post holder will be part of a research team working on a new project on forced alignment for indexing large speech corpora (in particular, the British National Corpus), funded by the JISC under the Digging into Data competition. The project is an international collaboration between the Phonetics Laboratory and the Linguistic Data Consortium, University of Pennsylvania. The post holder will be required to undertake most of the computational work on the project, especially in the use of forced alignment software to index 1,500 hrs of audio recordings, and registration of the timing information in an XML data structure.
