The conference aims to bring together researchers interested in semantic issues related to emotions in cross-cultural settings or/and a cross- linguistic environment. We are interested in all linguistic focuses: lexical, syntactical, prosodical and morphological. Thus research could consider, for example, the prosodical specificities characterizing expression of the same emotion in different languages, or the lexical resources or the syntactical structures that are used, in various languages, to express an emotion. Both theoretical research (functional semantics, natural semantic metalanguage, etc.) and applied research (teaching emotions in a classroom for instance) are targeted in this conference. Plenary Speakers: Cliff Goddard (University of New England, Australia) Claire Kramsch (University of California, Berkeley, USA) Philippe Martin (University Paris Diderot - Paris 7, France) Aneta Pavlenko (Temple University, Philadelphia, USA) Alain Polguère (University of Nancy, ATILF, France) Proposals are invited for individual papers (20 minutes) or panels on a particular theme (90 to 150 minutes). These may be in English or in French. Abstracts (300 words for individual papers, 600 words for panels) should be sent to fabienne ucy.ac.cy and georgeta.cislaru univ-paris3.fr Important dates Abstract deadline: 30 October 2010 Notification of acceptance/rejection: 20 December 2010 Date of the conference: 23-26 June 2011 Place of conference: University of Cyprus, Nicosia.
