Though scarcely studied in acquisitional linguistics, prosodic competence is more crucial than the lexical and morphosyntactic ones in conveying the proper interpretation of the utterance meaning and function. The special interest group on Spoken Communication (Gruppo di Studio sulla Comunicazione Parlata - GSCP) and the LANGUAGE CENTRE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF NAPLES 'L'ORIENTALE' (CILA) are organizing a conference in Naples on 'Prosodic and rhythmic aspects of L2 Italian', to give rise to discussions and reflections on the suprasegmental spoken competence in Italian as a Second Language, with reference to different research fields: -kind of speech (spontaneous, reading aloud, acting etc.) -communicative context (formal, informal, interactive, monologic, etc.) -communicative functions (command, request, protest, etc.) -native/non-native speaker interaction, and non-natives' interaction -immigrants' speech -foreign deafs' speech -linguistic varieties (dialects, regional varieties, other foreign languages, etc.) -typologically different mother languages -individual features of the speaker (age, gender, social group membership, etc.) -teachability (tools, teaching strategies, etc.) Experimental studies are particularly welcome. Tutti i recenti studi sul parlato sottolineano l'importanza del livello soprasegmentale nell'interazione conversazionale. La competenza prosodica, ancora poco studiata dalla linguistica acquisizionale, risulta spesso più determinante di quella lessicale o morfosintattica, poiché da essa dipendono la corretta interpretazione del significato e della funzione dell'enunciato. Il GSCP (GRUPPO DI STUDIO SULLA COMUNICAZIONE PARLATA) e il CILA (CENTRO LINGUISTICO DELL'UNIVERSITÀ DI NAPOLI L'ORIENTALE) intendono organizzare a Napoli un convegno sul tema 'Aspetti ritmico-prosodici nell'italiano L2', con l'obiettivo di sollecitare una riflessione e un confronto sulle problematiche connesse alla competenza soprasegmentale del parlato in italiano L2, con riferimento a diversi possibili ambiti di studio, quali: -tipologie di parlato (spontaneo, letto, recitato, ecc.) -contesti comunicativi (formale, informale, interattivo, monologico, ecc.) -funzioni comunicative (comando, richiesta, protesta, ecc.) -interazione tra parlante nativo e straniero o tra stranieri -parlato di immigrati -parlato di sordi stranieri -varietà linguistiche (dialetti, varietà regionali, altre lingue straniere, ecc.) -lingue materne tipologicamente diverse -caratteristiche individuali del parlante (età, genere, gruppo sociale di appartenenza, ecc.) -insegnabilità (strumenti, strategie, ecc.) The abstract must clearly report the title of the contribution, the author's name, address, affiliation and the e-mail notification address. The congress scientific committee will evaluate the proposals. The conference official language is Italian; abstracts and oral communications in English will be also considered.
