Meeting Description:

A regular event since 1988, the Conference of the Italian group of historians of the English Language has this year the theme: Dialogic Forms in One Thousand Years of English Texts - From Old English to Late Modern English. It will be held in Cagliari, Sardinia, in late May 2011, and includes three invited speakers on issues of diachronic studies of dialogue and historical pragmatics.

Conference Organization:

As in the tradition of the group, the conference will start on a Thursday mid-morning and will close on a Saturday late morning with our business meeting. The sessions will be held at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and at the Faculty of Economics, which are both near the historic centre of Cagliari. The conference website is active, care of the Centro Linguistico di Ateneo, [http://www.slin15.it/] and all relevant information on travel, hotels, dining options and excursions is posted there and regularly updated. Please visit the website for this information.

Fees and Payments:

The Conference fee is fixed at E 55,00, payable in cash upon registration at the conference site, and will cover conference materials and coffee breaks. Students are exempted from this fee.

Accommodation is to be booked individually from the list provided on the website, quoting participation in this conference. As May is already semi-high season, we recommend early arrangements and booking both for traveling and for accommodation.

The Conference dinner will be held on the evening of Friday 27th, at one of the traditional Sardinian restaurants. The Dinner fee is E 50,00. This will also be payable at the conference, although we kindly ask you to mention your participation in the enclosed pre-registration form (attached), to help us with the organization.
