- 5 year appointment - Salary range: Level B A$76,356 - A$90,674 p.a. - Salary range: Level C A$93,535 - A$107,854 p.a. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for an academic appointment in the Linguistics Discipline Group. An appointment will be made at the higher level for a candidate with advanced standing in a research and teaching career. Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent in Linguistics. The discipline currently offers a three year undergraduate major in Linguistics, an Honours program and higher degrees by research. Applicants with teaching experience are requested to submit a teaching portfolio as part of their application. Selection criteria include: Demonstrated research program in one or more of the following areas: descriptive linguistics with specialties in Austronesian, Mainland Southeast Asian or Australian languages; sociolinguistics; syntax; linguistic typology. Demonstrated ability and willingness to develop, co-ordinate and teach units at all undergraduate levels across a number of the following areas: introductory linguistics, phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, discourse analysis, semantics, pragmatics, socio-linguistics, applied linguistics, historical linguistics, field methods, area studies, linguistic typology.
