There are over 23,400 undergraduate and postgraduate students coming from 50 countries, and more than 1,200 members of academic and academic-related staff, many of whom are internationally renowned. Professor/Associate Professor in Linguistics (Ref.: 20100743) Applications are invited for appointment as Professor/Associate Professor in Linguistics in the School of Humanities (Linguistics), from September 1, 2011 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal, with consideration for tenure after satisfactory completion of a second fixed-term contract. Applicants should have specialization in one or two subfields of linguistics (including but not limited to Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, Semantics, Psycholinguistics, and Neurolinguistics). A strong interest in interdisciplinary research is required. In particular, candidates able to contribute to research in general linguistics, psycholinguistics and neurolinguistics are strongly encouraged. Annual salaries will be in the following ranges (subject to review from time to time at the entire discretion of the University): Professor : HK$862,380 - 1,207,920 Associate Professor : HK$636,420 - 984,180 (approximately US$1 = HK$7.8) Applicants should indicate clearly the reference number and which level they wish to be considered for. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary, as well as leave, and medical/dental benefits. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
