Assistant Professor in Second/Foreign Language Pedagogy and Acquisition 2010-212/1-219 At the Department of Language, Literature, and Culture, Section for English, a position as assistant professor in Second/Foreign Language Pedagogy and Acquisition is to be filled as of 1 August 2011. Applicants are expected to have: - A PhD or its equivalent within English Linguistics - Potential for the development of research projects within the area of specialization - Native or near-native command of English - Teaching experience at university level All other things being equal, familiarity with the teaching of English at all levels in the Danish educational system will be considered an advantage. The successful applicant will teach courses in the area of specialization to undergraduate and graduate students at the Section for English or to students from other language sections, as well as assist in teaching introductory courses in English Linguistics. The position of assistant professor is a limited-term, three-year appointment, with the possibility of subsequent promotion to the tenured position of associate professor, and it is well-suited for a recently qualified PhD. Applicants without any knowledge of Danish will be expected, if appointed, to acquire within two years sufficient proficiency in the language to be able to participate in all the activities of the Department. It is expected that the person appointed will be present at the Department on a normal daily basis. Formalities: - The Faculty of Humanities refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities (the Appointment Order) under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. - Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. - Further information on qualification requirements and job content may be found in the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Danish Universities. - Further information on application and relevant enclosures may be found in the Guidelines for applicants for academic positions.
