In the Department of Anglophone Studies teaching and research is centred around language variation and use in diverse cultural contexts throughout the English-speaking world. The applicants should be qualified in English linguistics, especially the core linguistic areas, in both research and teaching. It is expected of applicants that they have a data-driven approach and are acquainted with modern methods of data collection and analysis. Applicants should have a research focus in semantics, pragmatics or in variational linguistics. Experience in the area of studies program design and in administration on a department level is advantageous. Peer-reviewed publications are expected as is experience in externally funded research projects. Working knowledge of German is essential. Applicants must comply with §46 HG/NRW (German university law).
