At the Institute for Anglophone Studies, Faculty of Humanities, University of Duisburg-Essen, Campus Essen, the following position is to be filled: Full professorship for English linguistics (W2 salary scale) The successful applicant should focus in teaching and research on the German state exam programs (teacher training) as well as on bachelor and master programs. In the Department of Anglophone Studies teaching and research is centred around language variation and use in diverse cultural contexts throughout the English-speaking world. The applicants should be qualified in English linguistics, especially the core linguistic areas, in both research and teaching. It is expected of applicants that they have a data-driven approach and are acquainted with modern methods of data collection and analysis. Applicants should have a research focus in semantics, pragmatics or in variational linguistics. Experience in the area of studies program design and in administration on a department level is advantageous. Peer-reviewed publications are expected as is experience in externally funded research projects. Working knowledge of German is essential. Applicants must comply with ยง46 HG/NRW (German university law).
