The central theme 'Awareness Matters: Language, Culture, Literacy' will focus on relevant educational, economical, political, and sociological aspects of personal and co-operative knowledge construction related to different languages, to different cultures and their members in multilingual and multicultural contexts. These aspects will be discussed in the context of a continuous and dynamic debate with texts both written and oral in quite different usage contexts in Face-to-Face and online learning situations. Call for Papers The deadline for proposal submissions has been extended to February 14th, 2010. We welcome proposals for - special colloquia for doctoral students (each student 30 minutes) - paper presentations (30 minutes) - colloquia (90 minutes) - workshops (45 minutes) - posters that fit to the confernce theme. The main areas are: - Language Awareness in Language Learning and Language Teaching in multilingual and multicultural contexts - Language Awareness in diverse Workplaces, such as Business, Marketing, Health etc. - Language Awareness and the Use of Media - Cultural Awareness in Language Learning and Language Teaching in diverse settings - Cultural Awareness and the Use of Media - Language Awareness and Literacy Development in Language Learning and Teaching - Language Awareness and Professional Literacy Development For further information, please read the "Call for Papers" on the conference website http://www.uni-kassel.de/go/ala2010 .
