Meeting Description:
We are pleased to announce the 6th Lancaster University International Postgraduate Conference in Linguistics and Language Teaching (LAEL PG Conference) which will take place at Lancaster University’s George Fox building, on Tuesday 12th of July 2011.
This one-day conference is designed to give linguistics postgraduates from all research areas an opportunity to present and discuss their research in an informal and intellectually stimulating setting.
This year's conference will be opened by Prof. Greg Myers (Lancaster University), and there will be guest plenary lectures by:
Prof. Paul Kerswill (Lancaster University)
Dr. Johnny Unger (Lancaster University)
2nd Call for Papers:
Submission Guidelines:
Abstracts should be no more than 300 words and should be submitted via e-mail as attachments (Microsoft Word/Rich Text Format files).
Abstracts should include only:
1) Title of the paper
2) List of 3 -5 key words describing the area and focus of the paper
3) Aim of the session
4) Research focus
5) Research methodology
6) Brief summary of findings (if applicable)
7) Short list of key references
Abstracts should not include the author's name or any other identifying information.
The subject line of the e-mail accompanying the abstract should contain the words 'Abstract submission'. The body of the email message should contain:
1) Title and preferred presentation type (oral or poster)
2) Name(s) of the author(s) and their affiliation(s)
3) Brief author's bio-data (up to 40 words)
4) Author's e-mail address and contact details
5) Audiovisual equipment required (if any)
6) The main and secondary area of your research, from the list below:
- Cognitive linguistics
- Corpus linguistics
- Critical discourse analysis
- Historical linguistics
- Literacy
- Pragmatics/semantics
- Phonetics/phonology
- Second language teaching/learning/assessment
- Sociolinguistics
- Syntax/morphology
- Stylistics
- Translation studies
- Other: please specify
