The Scientific Committee for the 19th International Congress of Linguists
solicits proposals for the organization of workshops to be held during the
Congress. Workshop proposals can be submitted on any topic dealing with the
study of language and linguistics. The format of workshops is determined by
their organizers, although its appropriateness to the topic will be
considered in the evaluation process.
Workshop proposals will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee and, if
accepted, will be allotted up to three two-hour sessions on the program of
the Congress. These sessions will be open to all Congress participants.
Proposals should include a brief (500 words) summary of the topic to be
addressed, and information about the form the workshop would take. This
should include indications of at least:
a) the form of presentations at the workshop (lectures, round table
discussions, prepared commentary on presentations, etc.), with an estimate
of the total time required;
b) whether all contributions to the workshop will be selected directly by
the organizer, in which case either a list of proposed speakers or the
means by which the speakers shall be identified should be included if possible;
c) whether unsolicited submissions through the Congress abstract submission
process will be considered for inclusion on the program;
d) how the organizers will ensure the scientific quality of presentations;
e) and any plans to seek external support for participants in the workshop.
To ensure full consideration, proposals should be submitted by 30
September, 2011, and will be evaluated as expediously as possible to
provide organizers with a timely indication of their acceptance. Proposals
received after this date will be considered to the extent program space
permits.
