Description:
Experienced instructor sought for fixed-term "university teacher" in English language, Academic Writing and/or Writing Center/Program Administration from 1.8.2011-31.7.2012. This unique opportunity involves a) the teaching of academic communication skills, in particular scientific/academic writing for Bachelor, Master and Doctoral level students from various disciplines, b) staff, researcher and faculty training and development, and c) may also include opportunities for research mentorship, curricular development and/or university Writing Center/Program administrative and developmental responsibilities. Though coverage is sought for a permanent member of staff who will be on leave of absence for the period mentioned, renewal of contract and eventual tenure may be possible dependent on employee performance, university funding and position availability. Although the dominant language in Jyväskylä is Finnish, English is commonly spoken and tasks of daily living are easily carried out in English. Preferred qualifications: Preference will be given to those candidates who hold a PhD in composition, ESL, professional writing or a related field and who have experience with WAC/WID, writing program and/or writing center administration; online learning and social media; research mentorship; collaborative teamwork; and ability to carry out innovative pedagogies to meet the demands of the 21st century European university. Remuneration: In accordance with teaching and research staff level 5 (2636,80 Euros/month). In addition, an individual pay component is paid on the basis of job performance, which can amount to a maximum of 46,3% of the job-specific pay component.
