Meeting Description:
The University of Rouen will be organizing an International Conference on Grammaticalization Theory and Data on May 10-11, 2012. Since the 1980s grammaticalization theory has emerged as a key theory to understand and explain language change. The examination of constant new empirical data has contributed to enrich and refine the theoretical framework. The purpose of this conference is to continue to explore the various facets of grammaticalization by proposing state-of-the-art papers not only in traditional areas of grammaticalization but also on innovative phenomena. New research on the following topics is specially welcome: grammaticalization and constructions; grammaticalization and gradualness and/or gradience; grammaticalization and (inter)subjectification; grammaticalization and prosody; grammaticalization and right-boundary adverbials. Plenary Speakers: Bernd Heine (University of Köln) and Elizabeth Traugott (Stanford University).
