Senior Language Education Specialist EF International Language Centers Zurich, Switzerland Synopsis: Do you have a vision for better and faster language learning? EF is seeking passionate applied linguists to lead the development of blended learning in its schools worldwide. The Role: We're looking for an energetic and innovative language education specialist to join our worldwide operations team in Zurich. As a key member of the central academic team, you will design and create learning experiences and media that combine the best of teaching and technology. You will publish educational media and learning applications; design curricula; lead teacher training; support EF's global sales offices as an academic liaison and public speaker; represent EF in client meetings, major tenders, and conferences; launch and lead implementations of EF's learning system for external customers (ministries of education, local authorities, universities, sometimes in segregated contexts, e.g. Saudi Arabia); and spearhead research initiatives. With schools and projects in exciting destinations around the world from Cape Town to Beijing, the desire and ability to travel internationally are essential. Requirements: - Swiss/EU nationality (eligible to work in Switzerland); work permits not sponsored otherwise - PhD or EdD in Applied Linguistics or closely related field; new graduates are encouraged to apply - Passion for study abroad and the opportunities it provides for language learners - 5-10 years experience in English language teaching; preferably with young adults and adults in a mix of settings (private language school, IEP, etc) - Evidence of leadership experience, curriculum design and materials development - Excellent organizational skills and project management experience - Outstanding writing and editing ability for language learning materials; high degree of creativity, accuracy and attention to detail; ELT publishing experience a plus - Familiarity with blended learning and teaching and the use of new media in teaching - Knowledge of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and its use in designing syllabi and assessments - Ability to lead projects in local educational environments, such as in the Middle East and Latin America - Excellent mastery of English, knowledge of additional languages a plus, particularly Arabic EF is the world leader in international education.
