The European University Viadrina, Frankfurt/Oder, Department for Social and Cultural Sciences announces a W3 - Professorship for Pragmatics and Multimodal Communication The department for Social and Cultural Sciences seeks applicants for an appointment as W3 professor for Pragmatics and Multimodal Communication. The applicant is expected to represent this domain in research and education with a broad scope and an openness and experience in interdisciplinary collaborations. More particularly, the department is looking for scholars with expertise in: - Cognitive Linguistics - Applied Metaphor Research - Interactional Linguistics - Gesture Studies Interfaces to Cognitive Sciences and Media Studies are welcomed. The Viadrina is recognized for its international visibility and expects scholars to bring in expertise in international, intercultural, and interdisciplinary research and education. In terms of education, administration, and research the job will include the following activities: - Teaching and administration within the BA Program in Social and Cultural Sciences and the MA Programs in Intercultural Communication Studies and Socio-Cultural Studies - Developing new international BA, MA, PhD programs - Fund raising for research grants and PhD programs, developing interdisciplinary and international research projects - Building up networks with scholars in Central and Eastern Europe The chair is a permanent position. In accordance with § 41 paragraph 1 BbgHG, in cases where the chair is the first awarded to the applicant, professors will be appointed for a limited employment for the duration of two years. Each case will be assessed individually. Requirements: The general requirements are governed by § 39 BbgHG. The foundation 'European University Viadrina' aims to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching and strongly urges suitably qualified women to apply.
