The University of Konstanz is one of the nine Universities of Excellence in the Federal Republic of Germany. The Department of Linguistics in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Konstanz invites applications for a tenured W3-Professorship in Linguistic Phonetics with interfaces with pragmatics and/or syntax, to be filled by April 1, 2012. The language specialization is open. We are, however, looking for candidates who will be able to complement existing strengths of our department. We are looking for experts in the field of phonetics, as testified for example by publications in established linguistic journals, important monographs, invited conference papers, fellowships and awards (i.e., academic performance at least equivalent to 'Habilitation'). The selected candidate should carry out research and teaching in the fields of phonetics and its interfaces in the general linguistic study programme, including the German state degree for future teachers in at least two of the following languages: German, English, French and Spanish. Cooperation with existing and planned research proposals at the department is expected.
