Uppsala University (Sweden) and Vilnius University (Lithuania) start in September 2011 a distance course in the highly endangered Karaim language spoken in Lithuania. The purpose of the course is to provide a first overview of the status of Karaim in the Turkic language family, the phonology, grammar, morphology, and syntax of Karaim, as well as certain elementary language skills and reading skills in different writing systems for Karaim.
