Abstract:
This work analyzes current borrowings and integration of loan words in the French language and in other Romance languages. The studied phenomena are analyzed exclusively from the perspective of the speakers. The main aim is to elucidate the complexity of these processes - how language undergoes change - and to work out a model which is adequate with respect to communication theory. In particular, the study takes into account the occurrence of competing forms of loan words that differ from each other in their degree of integration.
