The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures has been authorized to invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Spanish Sociolinguistics to begin September 2012. We are seeking expertise in one of the following fields: sociolinguistics of U.S. Spanish, sociolinguistics of Caribbean Spanish, linguistic variation in the Iberian Peninsula, linguistic variation in New World Spanish, language contact in the Spanish-speaking world, social aspects of bilingualism, sociophonetics, language ideology. A secondary interest in contemporary phonological theory would be an asset. Candidates should have native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English. Evidence of outstanding teaching ability and research are essential. Send cover letter, statement of present and future research plans, a statement of teaching philosophy and experience, CV, and placement file (including three letters of recommendation) to Prof. Steven N.
