Description:
The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures anticipates making the following faculty appointment: Tenure-track, Assistant Professor in Spanish Applied Linguistics and Teacher Certification. Beginning Fall 2012. The successful candidate will supervise the department's teacher certification program, which includes educational outreach, writing the pertinent reports to state and national agencies, and teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses. As a research-extensive university, NIU requires evidence of a strong research program as well as excellence in teaching. Additional requirements include: native or near-native fluency in Spanish; a Ph.D. in Spanish Applied Linguistics or its equivalent by the time of appointment; and experience in elementary, middle and/or high school teaching. A pre-employment criminal background investigation is required. The department and the university are committed to the principle of diversity and strongly encourage applications from members of protected classes.
