Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Mike Hammond. Dr. Hammond received his training in Linguistics at UCLA and is currently professor of Linguistics at the University of Arizona with appointments in cognitive science and second language acquisition. He has researched in a variety of areas including phonology, morphology, psycholinguistics, and meter, including Welsh meter using corpus-based approaches. The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) is located in Arlington, Texas, situated between Dallas and Fort Worth. Arlington is easily accessible by two major airports: DFW and Love Field. Discounted hotels in Arlington are available for UTA events, and some limited space will be available to stay with students on a first come, first served basis. Call for Papers: Conference & Presentation Details: Papers for this conference are invited in all areas of linguistics and TESOL. Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Mike Hammond. Students from any educational institution are strongly encouraged to submit their research and share insights they have discovered in the field. Presenters can choose between oral and poster presentations. Oral presentations will last 20 minutes with 5 minutes for discussion and questions. An allotment of time will be set aside for poster presentations and discussion. This is a great opportunity to develop professional skills. The best presentations will be awarded the Yumi Nakamura Memorial Prize in Linguistics (up to a total of $1500.00 USD in prize money). Poster and oral presentations are considered, accepted, and judged as equal counterparts. Abstracts should be written on a single page (500 words or less) in Times New Roman or a similar font, 12 point, with one additional page for graphs and/pr references. Electronic submissions are preferred and the text of the email (or title page) should include: Your name Affiliation Address, phone number, e-mail address Title of paper, and Type of presentation: oral or poster Please do not include your name on abstract pages. Abstracts should be sent as an attachment in MS Word format to http://linguistlist.org/confcustom/utascilt2012. Please do not submit using an .html or PDF format, as we will need to format the abstract for inclusion in the abstract booklet.
