2nd Conference on ELT in the Islamic World December 6-7, 2012 Tehran, Iran The Iran Language Institute announces the 2nd Conference on ELT in the Islamic World in Tehran, Iran, on December 6-7, 2012. The conference aims at providing a platform for global academic exchange on the key principles underpinning the teaching, learning, and assessing of English as a foreign language (EFL) across the Islamic world. Venturing into different aspects of the various thematic categories, the conference seeks to create a dialogue between scholars, researchers, and practitioners to share their expertise and explore their research perspectives on a wide range of ELT-related topics. The two conference days will feature sessions based on a number of keynote speeches, invited and contributed papers, as well as poster presentations.
Call for Papers: Abstract Submission Deadline: February 12, 2012 Conference Theme: The theme of the conference will be Research-Practice Symbiosis, and empirical as well as theoretical papers are invited on the following topics: - Materials Development and Evaluation - Syllabus Design and Curriculum Development - Second Language Acquisition Research - English Language Testing and Assessment - Discourse Analysis and Interlanguage Pragmatics - Sociocultural Theory and ELT - Culture in English Language Teaching - Teaching English to Young Learners (TEYL) - English as an International Language (EIL) - Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) - English for Specific Purposes (ESP) - Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) - Critical Language Studies and ELT - Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) - English Language Skills and Components - English Language Teacher Education Important Dates: Abstract Submission Deadline: February 12, 2012 Notification of Acceptance/Rejection: May 30, 2012 Workshop(s): December 5, 2012 Conference Sessions: December 6-7, 2012 Abstract Submission: Abstracts for papers and posters pertinent to one of the conference topics will be welcomed. Paper presenters will be allotted 20 minutes for oral presentation and 10 minutes for questions. Poster sessions provide an opportunity for the presentation of empirical research, lesson samples, and technological innovations. Posters will be allocated a specific day and time during which poster presenters will display and discuss their findings and products. For both paper and poster presentations, only submissions in English will be considered. Abstract Evaluation: Abstracts will be subjected to a blind peer review process to determine acceptance/rejection. Presenters will not be sent the reviews but will be informed of the outcome of the review process. Preference will be given to submissions that are clearly related to the theme of the conference and the pertinent topics. N.B.: Abstracts which are not accepted for paper presentation may be considered for poster presentation.
