We pride ourselves in having a research culture that embraces diversity and multidisciplinary perspectives, as well as a strong focus on maintaining excellence in our teaching and pedagogy. The department has both academic and pedagogy program commitments, and offers undergraduate and graduate programs as well as in-service and pre-service teacher certification courses. Research oriented graduate work is also offered for the Master of Arts and the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees. We invite qualified applicants to apply for the following academic positions: Position: Assistant Professor/Associate Professor - Pedagogical Grammar - Reading and Literacy - Testing and Assessment - Language Teaching - English Literature Education with specialisation in the history of English literature education, globalisation and literature education, and/or literature pedagogy - Curriculum Development Applicants are to have a doctoral degree in hand by date of appointment in the relevant fields, with a strong record in research - refereed publications in applied linguistics/education and literature education; evidence of empirical research agenda; demonstration of ability in teaching graduate and undergraduate courses. Applicants will be in a position of added advantage if he or she possesses teaching qualifications and has had some school teaching experience. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview and to conduct a lesson in their area of expertise for our students at NIE. Successful applicants hired on the professorial track will be expected to contribute to teaching and course development at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as related activities such as the facilitation of teaching practice, and graduate supervision.
