Meeting Description:
The Department of English in the Faculty of Arts at the Islamic University of Gaza is pleased to announce its 1st International Conference on Applied Linguistics and Literature to be held at the Islamic University of Gaza on 23-24 October 2012. This two-day interdisciplinary conference provides a meeting place for researchers and practitioners in the areas of applied linguistics and literature to present and share their research findings in a stimulating and interactive environment. The conference aims to promote collaborative and networking opportunities between scholars and practitioners and to advance new perspectives and reflect on current research and practice in a variety of areas in applied linguistics and literature.
Call for Papers: Scholars from around the world are invited to submit papers written on substantial, original and unpublished research in any of the following broad thematic areas: Area A: Language Pedagogy: ELT (theory, practice and application) Techniques and Methods in language teaching/learning Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) Curriculum Development in Arab/Palestinian Contexts Second Language Acquisition (SLA) Language Assessment and Testing English for Specific Purposes (ESP) Teacher Training Teaching translation Teaching Literature Area B: Literature Interdisciplinary Approaches to Literature American Literature English and Commonwealth Literature Comparative Literature Postcolonial and Global Literature Palestinian Literature Area C: Linguistics Approaches to discourse and text analysis Critical Discourse Analysis Pragmatics/Semantics Phonetics and Phonology Translation studies Psycholinguistics Sociolinguistics: language and society, gender, etc. Cognitive linguistics Intercultural Communication Stylistics Contrastive Linguistics Abstract Proposals and Deadlines: Scholars are invited to submit 200-300 word abstract proposals (with 5 keywords) in an attachment in MS word format. Please include your contact information in the body of your email, not in the attached file. Abstract proposals should be sent via email on the closing day of 20 August 2012 to mamer iugaza.edu.ps. Notification of acceptance of abstracts: 25 September 2012 Paper presentations will be 20 minutes followed by 10 minute discussion. Presenters should submit soft copies of their full papers by 5 October 2012. Papers will be peer reviewed and if selected will be published in the conference proceedings. All writers need to prepare their manuscripts according to the APA style.
