Editor for this issue: Christy Bird <christylinguistlist.org>

The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to engage in non-discriminatory hiring practices. We urge employers not to discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity, nationality, disability, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international employment page at http://linguistlist.org/jobs/jobnet.html. This page has been set up so that people can report on the employment standards of various countries.

seeks candidates for

Visiting Assistant Professor

The Department of Second Language Studies announces a one-year visiting
position for a candidate with a Ph.D. in Second Language Studies or closely
related field, an interest in language teaching methodology, and experience
teaching English to adults. The successful candidate will teach two courses
each semester, including a TESOL Practicum for graduate students in the
fall and an undergraduate course about teaching methods for ESL in the
spring. We anticipate that the other courses will be at the graduate level.

Documented excellence in teaching is required. The ability to teach a
graduate-level course on language learning technology is desirable, but not
required. We will interview at TESOL and AAAL. Applicants should send a
