Meeting Description:

We have the honour of inviting you to take part in the II International Symposium in Lexicography which will be held in Batumi, Georgia from 18 May until 20 May 2012.

Aim of the Symposium:

- To bring together professional lexicographers, researchers into most recent problems of practical lexicography and lexicology, specialists working on corpora, publishers, software developers working on electronic and online dictionaries and electronic databases, as well as those generally interested in lexicography and lexicology, in order to enable direct dialogue between them
- To arrange presentations of completed or ongoing lexicographical projects, exhibitions of published dictionaries, demonstrations of electronic and online dictionaries, to discuss new ideas
- To determine the strategy for the further development of lexicography and work out recommendations for the creation of the National Lexicographic Programme
- To evaluate the process of development of electronic databases in Georgia and the prospects for their application in Georgian lexicography
- To promote the research into the issues of the history of Georgian lexicography
- To facilitate the introduction of new types of dictionaries in Georgia

Call for Papers:

Papers and software demonstrations are invited on the following topics:

- Completed and ongoing lexicographical projects
- Specialized (terminological) lexicography and language for specific purposes (LSP)
- Problems of lexicology
- The dictionary-making process, lexicographical principles
- Lexicography for language teaching
- Electronic corpora and lexicography
- New types of dictionaries
- History of Georgian lexicography

The above topics do not exclude other lexicographical (lexicological) issues. Papers and demonstrations that are relevant to the symposium, but do not fit into any of the topics above, will be nevertheless considered for presentation at the symposium.

Within the framework of the symposium, a Round Table discussion will be held on the following topic:

- Electronic corpora and the prospect for their application in Georgian lexicography
