The Department of Computational Linguistics at Saarland University, Saarbrücken, Germany, invites applications for the position of a scientific staff member ('Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin/Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter'). The successful candidate will have a strong background in natural language processing and computational semantics, and preferably hold a PhD in computational linguistics or a related field. He/she will contribute to project work on the integration of natural language processing and knowledge management within the Cluster of Excellence 'Multimodal Computing and Interaction' (http://www.coli.uni-saarland.de/projects/codis, http://www.coli.uni-saarland.de/projects/smile). Experience in data- intensive methods is essential. A background in deep linguistic processing is a definite plus. He/she will join a young, creative research team and should have good teamwork skills. Saarland University is one of the leading European research sites in computational linguistics and offers an active, stimulating research environment. Close working relationships are maintained between the Departments of Computational Linguistics and Computer Science. Both are part of the Cluster of Excellence, which also includes the Max Planck Institutes for Informatics (MPI-INF) and Software Systems (MPI-SWS) and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). Salary and social benefits are according to Germany's public sector TV-L 13 scale, ranging from 3100 to 4500 EUR (before taxes), depending on prior experience. The appointment is initially for 2 years. Saarland University is an equal opportunity employer.
