Summary of Role: To successfully manage the full range verbal branding assignments with an emphasis in naming. To understand branding and take into account how language will support a brand when marketed to the public. To work with the Director of Naming and other members of the team to create strategies and concepts that help our clients either solve problems or capture opportunities. To bring conceptual thinking to life in a compelling way through naming and writing. To navigate the complex trademark, linguistic, URL landscape along the way. Primary Job Responsibilities: -Provide clients with strategic insights as related to naming, verbal identity, and branding in general -Apply naming and writing skills to consumer product and corporate branding assignments -Be a client contact and prepare client presentations -Lead name creation and brainstorming activities -Understand our clients' businesses and cultures -Help to build client relationships -Coordinate with vendors as well as other U.S. and international Interbrand offices Required Qualifications: -B.A. degree, backgrounds of interest include any verbal-focused or writing intensive field (e.g. Linguistics, Creative Writing, Foreign Language, Philosophy, etc) -Minimum 2-4 years in branding, advertising, or related field either client or agency-side -Experience giving direction by writing a creative brief -Experience taking direction from a creative brief written by others -Proficiency in Microsoft Office emphasis on PowerPoint -Proficiency in more clever presentation tools that don't rely on PowerPoint -Naming and Trademark experience a plus -Knowledge of foreign languages also a plus Skills & Competencies: -Critical thinking - you can construct a clear and logical argument for an idea -Story telling - you can construct a compelling narrative to support an idea -Salesmanship - you can effectively articulate the value of an idea to a client -Conviction - you deliver work that has a point-of-view and stand behind it -Flexibility - you welcome feedback and allow for change, you have creative range and see many ways to approach a task, and you can also work in a wide range of industries from toothpaste to tractors Working Style -You are comfortable working independently -You are comfortable working collaboratively with the Verbal Identity team and other disciplines (e.g. Design, Strategy) -You can multi-task -You consistently deliver quality creative work, even under pressure Please email your resume, cover letter, hourly rate and salary requirements to the application email listed below with the subject line "Naming-New York".
