Syntax: Assistant Professor, Tenure Track Sogang University (Seoul, South Korea) Employer: Department of English Literature and Linguistics Sogang University is one of the premier universities in Seoul, Korea. The undergraduate students are within top 5-10% in Korean SAT score. 1. Candidates should be a non-Korean citizen for this particular position (Near)-Native English proficiency required. 2. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree by the date of hire, September 1, 2011. 3. Candidates should be able to publish in international journals in the area of syntax. 4. The appointee will (a) teach two courses of relevant areas to undergraduate and graduate students per semester, (b) supervise projects and theses of MA and PhD students, (c) develop research in his/her areas of expertise, and (d) undertake administrative duties. Benefits: 1. Salary is internationally competitive, commensurate with qualifications and research and teaching experiences. Annual salary ranges 51,000-58,000 US dollars (Income tax is about 15% in Korea) commensurate with experience and expertise. 2. Comprehensive fringe benefits include bonuses, research grants, pension, ample support for research activities, and subsidized medical insurance. 3. Housing benefit of a studio apartment is subsidized for one year. Procedures: 1.
