I ask as a PhD candidate in linguistics who is interested by the compelling theories of Foucault, and at the same time attaches great significance to rational, evidence-based argumentation. What linguistic-theoretical discoveries can be applied to corroborate or falsify hypotheses about, say, institutional views on higher education policy? Can anything be 'shown', or must any and all conclusions remain at the level of 'interpretation'. I am looking forward to hearing from you, and open to debate and discussion!
