Description:
Permanent Lecturer position in Linguistics and English Language (vacancy reference number 3014082). Post created to help support a new interdisciplinary masters level initiative in Cognition in Science and Society. Candidates must have a PhD in linguistics or a closely related relevant discipline and a thorough grounding in the core of linguistics -- particularly the study of meaning, and a strong interest in developments in the cognitive sciences. Successful candidate must have an interdisciplinary interest in meaning reaching out from linguistics to subjects such as philosophy, psychology, and the computer and information sciences, and a track record of high-impact publications. Appointee will be asked to develop and teach a new postgraduate course in the pragmatics of human linguistic communication.
