Meeting of the American Dialect Society, South Central Region October 28-29, 2011
Call for Papers: Papers are welcome that deal with varieties of English spoken in the United States. Presentations may be based in traditional dialectology or other areas of language variation and change, including pragmatics, sociolinguistics, historical linguistics, anthropological linguistics, language and gender, or language attitudes and ideologies. Send abstracts to: James J. Mischler Session Chair, American Dialect Society, South Central Region meeting 68th South Central Modern Language Association (SCMLA) Convention Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, LA 1-318-357-5574 mischlerj nsula.edu Submission Instructions: Email submissions only to the address shown above; send the abstract as a Microsoft Word attachment. The abstract should be no more than 500 words, excluding title and references. Include the word count at the end of the abstract and omit any identifying information (name, affiliation, etc). Include contact information, affiliation, and abstract title in the body of the email. Membership Requirements: Membership in SCMLA is required to present at the annual conference. Details concerning the 68th Annual Convention and membership in the Association are available at http://www.southcentralmla.org/ Membership in the American Dialect Society is recommended.
