Dear LINGUIST List Subscribers,

My name is Zac Smith, and I have been with the LINGUIST List for just shy of one year. I will be graduating with a B.A. in linguistics from Eastern Michigan University this semester, and plan on pursuing my PhD in linguistics at Cornell University in the fall.

At the LINGUIST List, I have worked with the LL-MAP team in digitizing and annotating linguistic maps. I am also the student editor of the Queries and Summaries submissions, which allows me to see first-hand all of the fantastic research linguists from around the world are conducting right now. I have also had the opportunity to learn HTML, XML, and CSS in my work here, in developing sections of this very website as well as websites for clients.

I am honored to have been chosen to work for the LINGUIST List, especially since I am still just a lowly undergraduate. My work here has been invaluable for my development as a student, employee, and as a linguist.

But none of my fantastic experiences or contributions to the community would have been possible if it were not for the generous support of the community. We here at the LINGUIST List depend on donations to do what we do- from organizing the mailing list, to operating great research resources such as Multitree and LL-Map, to helping students and graduates alike pursue careers in linguistics. I know that I have benefitted greatly from the resources we offer, and I hope that we can continue to provide them for many more students and researchers to come. With your help, we will be able to continue on providing our services to the greater linguistics community.

Therefore I implore you to consider donating to the LINGUIST List. Our Fund Drive comes around only once a year, so this is your chance to help us make it through the following year and beyond! You can donate via this link: http://linguistlist.org/donation/donate/donate1.cfm

Thank you so very much.

Zac Smith
Student Editor
